My blog starts with Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games

This is my first post on my philatelic blog. As a beginning, we would like to share with you the recent stamp issue in Singapore - Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

First Day Cover
A FDC sent to myself
Cancellation depicts fencing of YOG
On the FDC, we can see the full set of the stamps that issued on 14 Aug 2010. The above two designs highlight the World Culture Village and Island Adventure formats of Culture Exchange Programme. Athletes will learn about diverse cultures, teamwork and leadership through these two activities. The other two designs feature the mascots in their favourite sports of Aquatics – Swimming and Basketball respectively.

The second cover was sent to myself on date of issue. I was surprised when I received it as I found three postmarks on it: the landing stamp (the left one), the postmark for the issue (the middle one) and a YOG cancellation (chopped on the face of the stamp). Although the cancellation is not clear, fortunately I received another mail with the YOG cancellation last month. From the third picture, we can see that the cancellation depicts the fencing - a sport event of YOG 2010. The cancellation also states the period of Singapore 2010 YOG.
