My 5th and 6th Wedding Postcards - received on 2010/10/08 from Latvia

Thanks to Juris for the beautiful postcards for my wedding! The postcards were posted from Riga, Latvia on 29 Sep 2010 and received on 8 Oct 2010.

The left stamp on Wedding Postcard No. 6 is "100th Anniversary of Latvia Republic" which was issued on 14 Nov 2009. The right stamp was Christmas in 2003.

The Republic of Latvia was founded on November 18, 1918. It has been continuously recognized as a sovereign state since 1920 despite occupations and rule by the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. In 1991, Latvia declared the restoration of its de-facto independence, re-established its diplomatic ties, and joined the United Nations. Latvian joined the WTO in 1998 and in 2004 became a member of the European Union and NATO. On 21 December 2007, Latvia acceded to the Schengen Agreement.
