A First Day Cover of International Youth Year 1985

Today, I got a First Day Cover from my fiancee. The FDC is for the stamp issue "International Youth Year 1985" of Singapore. My fiancee purchased this FDC from Headquarters of Girl Guides Singapore where she received training as a Girl Guides Guider.

1985 was designated the International Youth Year (IYY), by the United Nations General Assembly in 1979 with the themes "Participation, Development, Peace". In Singapore, IYY is observed with an accent on youth, one of the vital assets. Activities abound, providing opportunities for physical, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual expressions.

On this FDC, the stamp is the "10c" one among a set of three. This stamp shows the logos of 10 youth organizations/societies/clubs of Singapore. The reason why we collect this cover is because 2 of the logos are from Singapore Scouts and Girl Guides. The middle logo of the first row is for Scouts and the most-right one is for Girl Guides. The motto of these two organizations is: Be prepared.
